The part before the #goes to the server – it only says which crossing is meant.
The part after the #never leaves your browser. It is used for decryption – right at the recipient.

We never have the key. That's why we can't look inside – and neither can anyone who asks us.

Frequently asked questions

How long do the files stay available?

You choose between 1 and 30 days. After that the files are deleted automatically and irrevocably. You can extend at any time via your management link.

Does the recipient need an account or an app?

No. Open the link, download, done – in any current browser, on the phone too.

What happens if my connection drops?

Nothing bad. Ferrydrop transfers in small pieces and automatically continues where it left off.

Can Ferrydrop see my files?

Not with end-to-end encryption (the default): the key is only in the link after the #, and that part is never sent to the server. On top of that, everything is encrypted once more at rest.

Does the quality of my photos or videos suffer?

No. Compression is lossless only – what arrives is bit-for-bit identical to the original. Already compressed formats such as JPEG or MP4 are left untouched.

Who is behind this service?

This service is run by strothmann.online – not by an anonymous corporation. There is no advertising, no tracking and no sharing of data; your files are stored encrypted and deleted once they expire.

What is an upload link?

The reverse direction: you create a link through which others send you files. They don't see anyone else's files and cannot change their uploads.
